Accurate laboratory results begin with correctly planned and carefully collected water samples. JD Environmental Solutions provides coordinated water sampling and laboratory testing to help clients assess water quality, investigate potential problems and confirm whether control measures are working effectively.

Understanding results and required actions following laboratory testing
JD Environmental Solutions coordinates on-site sampling using specialist LCA registered organisations.
Sampling locations are selected with consideration of the system layout, risk assessment, monitoring records and any known areas of concern. This ensures the samples provide meaningful information rather than simply offering an isolated snapshot from convenient outlets.
Samples are collected using appropriate sterile containers and documented to maintain clear identification and traceability throughout transportation and laboratory analysis.
Generally, one hot, and one cold water sample is taken from each sampling point, where possible and sent to a microbiology lab for testing.

Legionella
Where Legionella testing is required, samples are submitted to a suitable UKAS-accredited laboratory whose accredited scope covers the relevant examination method. Laboratory analysis determines whether culturable Legionella bacteria are present and, where detected, provides information about the concentration and identification reported by the laboratory. We coordinate the testing process and provide clients with the completed laboratory results.
Microbiology Testing
Additional microbiological testing can be arranged where a broader assessment of water quality is required. Depending on the water source, system and intended use, testing may include parameters such as coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli, total viable counts and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
All samples for legionella and other microbiology analysis must arrive at the lab within 24 hours of them being taken. This is coordinated using sample drop off points distributed across the UK with same day/over night delivery.

Laboratory reports are reviewed and presented with a clear explanation of the findings. Results are considered alongside the risk assessment, system conditions and existing monitoring records to provide appropriate context.
Where further action may be required, we can help clients identify suitable next steps. These may include additional investigation, repeat sampling, review of the control programme, cleaning and disinfection or remedial work to the water system.
If you need to investigate a water-quality concern, verify the effectiveness of existing controls or arrange planned Legionella testing, JD Environmental Solutions can coordinate the complete process from sampling through to laboratory reporting.
