JD Environmental Solutions coordinates practical remedial works arising from Legionella risk assessments, monitoring visits, laboratory results and changes to a building’s water system. HSE hot & cold water systems guidance.

System improvements to prevent stagnation and address system defects through a team of qualified plumbers and technicians.

Reviews on the effectiveness of any remedial work along with clear records and reports to help you maintain records.
Poorly designed, altered or redundant pipework can create areas of low flow and stagnation where water quality may deteriorate. Remedial works can be arranged to address the specific defects identified during an assessment or inspection.
This may include removing redundant pipework and blind ends, reducing or removing unnecessary dead legs, improving circulation, correcting insulation problems and repairing or modifying water-storage arrangements.
Where temperature monitoring identifies a system performance issue, further investigation and appropriate plumbing or mechanical alterations can also be coordinated.
Work is carried out by City & Guilds qualified plumbers and specialist water hygiene technicians.

Scale, sediment and biofilm can accumulate within water-system components and create conditions that support bacterial growth. Suitable cleaning and disinfection works can be arranged according to the condition and complexity of the system.
This may include cleaning and descaling outlets, showerheads and hoses; cleaning cold-water storage tanks; servicing or replacing thermostatic mixing valves; and repairing or replacing defective components.
Where contamination or a significant loss of control has been identified, specialist thermal or chemical disinfection can be coordinated using a planned procedure appropriate to the water system.

Once remedial works have been completed, the original issue should be reviewed to confirm that it has been properly addressed. Verification may include visual inspection, temperature monitoring, operational checks or microbiological sampling where appropriate.
Clear records can be provided describing the work completed, the affected parts of the system and any outstanding recommendations. The findings can then be incorporated into the site’s water hygiene logbook, written control scheme or Legionella risk assessment.
Proportionate Remedial Action
Not every monitoring failure or defect requires extensive plumbing work. Recommendations should be proportionate to the condition of the system, the level of risk and the people who may be exposed.
JD Environmental Solutions helps clients understand which actions require immediate attention and which can be incorporated into a planned programme of improvements.
